Pinnacle Films

As a 35 year veteran of both the North American and European plastics industry, Bill Rice has first-hand experience with industry breakthroughs and how to capitalize on them. When metallocene became the next big thing, Bill Rice with Pinnacle Films lead the charge.

Pinnacle Films, based in Charlotte, NC, has defined itself in the stretch film market by focusing exclusively on cast film using metallocene linear low density polyethylene for strength and toughness. That means products for customers that are thinner with higher performance…at a lower net cost per wrapped pallet.

Rice knows:   He was with the stretch-film giant Mobil Chemical Company during the 80’s when they introduced the first three-layer LLDPE cast stretch wrap, called Mobil X. He went to Belgium as European sales and marketing manager for X film. During a whirlwind three years in 15 countries from 1981-84. Mobil X racked up a 70 % European market share for stretch-wrap. In 1987 AEP Industries hired Rice to put them in the stretch film business. Under Rice’s leadership, AEP grew into North America’s largest stretch film manufacturer.

In 1999 Bill Rice started Pinnacle Films and  lead the revolution of metallocene based stretch films. Production started on December 18, 1999. By 2005,  Pinnacle Films had grown to 3 lines  and will keep expanding until four cast lines are in place.

“Our goal has not been to be the largest, but we do intend to be the king of light gauge film with new products and technology,” says Rice. “We are proud to have lead the down gauging revolution.”
